Four days of increased spicy activity at* The View*'s Hot Topics table — thanks to returning cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck — might've finally gotten to longtime moderator Whoopi Goldberg.

The EGOT-winning actress halted two tense clashes on Thursday's live show, both of which saw the panelists cross-talk as they argued about the ramifications of ongoing military action in the Middle East following the United States and Israel's attack on Iran.**

"This is a geopolitical move of brilliance. It will be painful in the short term. We will absolutely choke down China's oil access from Iran. We've done it with Venezuela," said Hasselbeck at the end of the show's second segment, which prompted an impassioned response from Joy Behar.

"Elisabeth, are you willing to say boys and girls..." Behar said, trailing off as she appeared to reference civilian deaths in the region.

Goldberg then stepped in as the remaining cohosts attempted to speak over each other, with Goldberg promptly declaring, "We're going to go to break, so that I can stay on and keep everybody off my ass. We'll be right back."

She motioned toward the show's off-camera crew, whom she often jabs when they rush her to throw the show to an ad break.

Earlier in the show, Goldberg also put her foot down to break up a heated exchange between Sunny Hostin and Hasselbeck.

"Okay so, since this is going to be a longer conversation," Goldberg said as the pair sparred, repeating herself with emphasis on her first word to nip the spat in the bud. "*Since* this is going to be a longer conversation, we're going to take a break and we're going back. We'll be right back."

Hasselbeck's perspective back on *The View* has ignited several lively conversations in recent days, with the fill-in cohost's return to her former workplace (she was originally a cohost from 2003-2013) leading to debate among the panelists.

Hostin earlier called Hasselbeck out for voting for Donald Trump in the presidential election, while Hasselbeck raised eyebrows when, during a larger conversation about immigration reform in the United States, she compared protective COVID-19 masks to headgear worn by ICE agents to keep their identities anonymous.

The *Survivor* alum's presence has divided fans, with many commenting their disdain over Hasselbeck's return to the Hot Topics table. Their reaction comes after Hasselbeck, a staunch conservative, previously (and publicly) criticized both *The View* and Behar in January 2025, when she referred to them as "sinking" entities after the comedian criticized Carrie Underwood for performing at Trump's second inauguration.

*The View* airs weekdays on ABC.
