Christine Brown is venting about a “triggering” moment in a recent episode of Sister Wives.
During the second episode of Sister Wives’ 21st season, Christine, Meri Brown and Janelle Brown reunited for the first time in years to go through old photos, several of which included their ex-husband Kody Brown.
When Meri and Janelle suggested recreating an old portrait they took, Christine declined due to her belief that the photo highlighted the “hierarchy of wives” that existed within their family.
“I was just last. I was put on the bottom,” she lamented during the episode, cringing at the old dynamic where the wives were “always having to work everything out, and everything was so damn complicated.”

Days after the episode premiered, Christine shared a video on Instagram alongside her husband, David Woolley, confessing that she’d been “mad for days” about how the situation was portrayed on the show.
“I’ve been fuming about it for a while,” she said. “When I didn’t want to recreate the photo, it’s because I felt like I was once again being put on the bottom, and I feel like I’m not even being given the opportunity in the episode to talk about how I feel.”

“It’s like I’m being put on the bottom once again by this whole situation,” she added.
For his part, David deemed it “bulls---” that Meri had her “posse talk s---” about Christine. He also insinuated that Meri had been using her desire to maintain a relationship with Kody’s children as a manipulation tactic. (Kody has 18 children from his four marriages.)
“Last time I checked, one is still at home and the rest are all adults so they can have their own relationships,” David said of the kids. “Sounds really familiar, like what Kody was claiming all the time, too.”
“If anybody’s acting like Kody, Meri, you’re acting like Kody,” he continued. “You sit there and act like you have to go through these women to have a relationship. Sorry, but you don’t have to go through them to have a relationship. You’re doing it all on your own, and your posse is feeding into your crap.”
Christine reiterated that the episode brought back “terrible” feelings of being “on the bottom again.” She also acknowledged that there were times when each one of the wives felt as if they were “basement wives.”
“There was favoritism in our family, there was all kinds of games. So many games were played all around the board,” she recalled. “Of course I don’t want to recreate a photo that means I’m gonna go back in the past.”
“And it means I’m with him now,” she continued, gesturing to David. “Why would I recreate a photo with Janelle and Meri that makes us look like a unit? We’re not a unit, why would I pretend to be a unit with Meri and Janelle when I’m a unit with David?”
