Sometimes when Prince Harry does an interview, I feel like I've been transported back in time. This year, it seemed that the Duke of Sussex was doing everything in his power to improve his relationships with the royals, particularly with King Charles.

He seemed to have stopped dissing them publicly; he took his children to see their grandfather, and he even moved back to the UK, which some say was to be closer to his father. It really did seem like reconciliation was at the top of Harry's agenda, and was more than possible. Until yesterday, anyhow.

Because as King Charles and other senior royals were hosting the Sultan of Oman for a high-profile state visit, Harry was preparing for the release of yet another bombshell interview. This time, one that saw him comment on his relationship with the King and Prince William.

Yes, it does seem like we have moved back in time to a year or so ago. This interview, in which Harry sat down with GQ, is, I think, a major setback to reconciliation between the Duke and his family.

Harry spoke about family "drama" and his desire to reconcile, going as far as to say that while he wants it to work, not everyone does. His team then insisted these comments were made in a general context and not about his royal relatives.

But when he uses a lot of "I" and "we", it's hard to believe these comments aren't from a personal perspective. These comments, in my eyes anyway, simply show that the duke just hasn't learned his lesson.

He criticised his royal relatives before, and all it got him was ignored calls and an emotional distance from them far greater than any geographical one at the time could ever be. That could very much happen again.

His actions have also most likely proved one thing to King Charles, with whom he has been in the process of making amends. This is that Harry simply cannot be trusted.

If he is still publicly speaking about them and the state of their relationship, the King and William will not want to engage with him. It's that simple.

In their eyes, and in the eyes of many, family issues should remain private. When they are aired publicly, that's when things get messy.

This is something we have seen from Harry and Meghan time and time again. While I do not know what King Charles' reaction was to Harry's latest interview, it's safe to say that I don't think he will be impressed, and probably had a sigh or two when hearing about it.

It must, after all, be frustrating to think you are finally getting away from the drama caused by a relative, to then be dragged back into it. Credit where credit's due, the rocky relationships Harry has with his father and brother didn't dominate the whole interview, and a number of important topics were raised.

But Harry, I really think it's time to focus on the future. Learn some lessons from these interviews, and maybe you can finally get the reconciliation you've been hoping for.
