Leanne season 2 ends on a reflective note for its titular character and her family.
Led by comedian Leanne Morgan, the sitcom returned for its second season on Netflix on Aug. 27, with Kristen Johnston, Ryan Stiles, Celia Weston, Blake Clark and Tim Daly also reprising their roles.
“I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show,” Morgan told Tudum when the renewal was announced in June 2026. “Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!”
The show’s second season picks up where season 1 left off, with Leanne dating Andrew (Daly), making peace with Bill (Stiles) and becoming a grandmother.
New drama unfolds early on in the second season, with Leanne’s parents Margaret (Weston) and John (Clark) moving in with the former cornbread queen contestant and Leanne being forced to do some soul-searching when it comes to her relationships.
So, how does season 2 of Leanne end? Here’s everything to know about the season finale.

The second season of Leanne ends with Leanne reflecting on her split from her ex-husband Bill with her hairdresser, Kimi (Jaime Pressly).
Now that some time has passed, Leanne is able to admit that while Bill was responsible for his affair, he wasn’t 100% to blame for the demise of their marriage. “I’m now willing to take 23% responsibility for my divorce,” she jokes.
She also realizes that she’s been somewhat selfish when it comes to her sister, Carol (Johnston), who moved in with Leanne to support her post-divorce. “I know what you gave up to be here with me, and I let you do it,” she tells her sibling.
In a hilarious full-circle moment, the last few moments of the episode cut to Bill, who also finds himself in Kimi’s chair. “My life sucks!” he laments.

What happens to Leanne?
Leanne is single by the end of season 2, having turned down Andrew’s proposal and dealt with her momentary attraction to Bill.
She’s not alone, however. Carol still lives with her, as do their parents, Margaret and John. The latter couple moved in after a mishap in their kitchen where someone left a pot of beans on the stove.
Leanne also forms a friendship with a man named Dutch (Billy Gardell) after the pair go on a date. He encourages her to speak her mind, however their relationship remains platonic.

At the end of season 2, Leanne and Bill are friendly, but not together.
Though Bill is single, having split from Faye (Emily Pendergast), Leanne is no longer interested in her ex-husband.
“It was a very brief, disturbing moment, but it’s over now,” she tells Carol of being briefly attracted to Bill earlier on in the season.
Bill continues to spend time with Leanne’s family, however, helping John prepare for his driver’s license test and serving as his poker buddy.
What happens to Margaret and John?

At the end of season 2, Margaret and John are still living with Leanne and learning to accept their limitations as they continue to age.
John struggles most openly with the change, lamenting his loss of freedom, though Bill reassures him that he’s still the patriarch of the family.
Margaret experiences her own journey with aging as she loses her ability to garden, but maintains a sunny disposition, even taking Carol for a spin on her and John’s motorized scooters.
Will there be a Leanne season 3?
Netflix has not yet announced whether there will be a third season of Leanne.
