Jesse Eisenberg recently shared a special moment with his 9-year-old son, Banner.
The 42-year-old actor and his son enjoyed a private screening of his latest film, Minions & Monsters, before its official release.
While speaking to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie on June 28, the Now You See Me star shares that Banner was "cackling" throughout the entire screening.
"My kid loves the movies," Eisenberg says. "We saw the movie together alone in a screening room, because we saw it before it came out, and my kid was just cackling at all of the great Minion stuff, but I was just laughing as like a lover of Old Hollywood at all of the incredible, subtle, funny references they make to Old Hollywood."

In the upcoming film, which is the franchise's seventh installment ā following four Despicable Me entries and two previous Minions movies ā the iconic yellow henchmen find themselves as accidental stars in 1920s Hollywood.
This isn't the first time Eisenberg has shared an impactful moment with his son when it comes to his projects.

Banner had a brief cameo in A Real Pain, Eisenberg's Oscar-winning 2024 movie starring himself and Kieran Culkin. Banner made an uncredited appearance as Abe, the son of Eisenberg's character David.
"I wanted my kid to be in it, because it's such a personal story. ... It's not just a movie for me," Eisenberg told the International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma in January 2025. "It's really more of a touchstone and a kind of memory piece. And so I just wanted my kid to be in there, and they did such a great job.ā

Not only does Minions & Monsters earn Eisenberg some cool dad points with his son, but the movie was also a joy for the actor to be part of, he says.
"When I got asked to be in this movie, it felt like I got called because they told me I was winning the lottery," he tells PEOPLE. "To get into one of these movies is like an actor's dream, because it's so fun to be in without all of the anxieties of your own vanity and having to see your weird face on a screen."
He continues, "It's just pure joy, and then to be in a movie like this, which celebrates filmmaking and Old Hollywood as I'm directing my own movies, to me, was just like a perfect serendipitous thrill."
