It's safe to say that Guns N' Roses has successfully staged a major comeback. After reuniting for a massive world tour (which just wrapped up last month), they announced another global tour for next year — and now the legendary rockers just dropped two brand new singles.
The songs are the group's first new material since 2023, so this is a pretty big deal for fans (even though many still want to know when they can expect a full-length album). Titled “Nothin” and “Atlas," the tunes were officially released on Thursday, Dec. 4. Though they were initially born from the recording sessions for their 2008 album Chinese Democracy, (which actually took place in the late '90s to 2000s), the songs were later reworked after guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan rejoined the band, according to American Songwriter.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, fans on YouTube were beyond thrilled to hear the new songs, both of which feature beloved original members Axl Rose, Slash, and McKagan doing what they do best. A number of comments on "Nothin'" praised one aspect of the song in particular: Slash's guitar solo.
"SLASH SOLO, PERFECT!" gushed one person.
"Amazing solo. After all, It’s still Slash. Great melodic motifs and excellent note choices," noted a second fan, with a third declaring, "What a song!! The Slash solo is absolutely fantastic."
"The sign of a great guitarist is when you can know who is playing even if you’ve never heard a song before. Slash’s solo in this song is so perfectly executed. Beautiful playing. I could listen to that solo on repeat for hours," wrote yet another Slash enthusiast, with someone else agreeing, "That solo is fire as always."
Commenters were just as enthusiastic about "Atlas," with several taking note of McKagan's bass skills.
"Duff that sound man!" wrote one fan, with a second adding, "Duff rules on bass" and a third chiming in to say, "hell ya he does."
"Summer of '92 vibes cruising with the windows down, smell of cigarettes and no cell phones," another commenter said, with a second adding, "The world just needs a new Guns 'N Roses album."
Will Guns N' Roses release another full-length album?
All those fans dreaming of a new full-length Guns N' Roses album might have something to celebrate in the future.
As Slash told Guitar World earlier this year, a new record from the band is definitely in the works...it's just a question of when it will come to pass.
“There’s so much material at this point — it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and f—king get into it,” he said. “But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’ Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart.”
One thing's for sure: When the new album does come out, fans will be ready.
