Kacey Musgraves performed “Here You Come Again” in honor of the late Dolly Parton at her Boston concert on Friday.
Musgraves also dedicated her song “Rainbow” to Parton, whom she has long admired.
Parton died at the age of 80 on Tuesday following a “brief battle with cancer.”
Kacey Musgraves paid a happy and sad tribute to her hero Dolly Parton.
The “High Horse” singer honored Parton with a cover of the late singer’s track “Here You Come Again” at her concert in Boston on Friday. Parton died at the age of 80 on Tuesday after a “brief battle with cancer.”
Social media videos of the tribute showed the crowd singing along as Musgraves crooned the 1977 hit. Before launching into her cover, the “Space Cowboy” artist also dedicated her song “Rainbow” to Parton.
Musgraves expressed her heartbreak at Parton’s death on Tuesday, writing that “the world feels a lot less sparkly all of a sudden.”
“So glad she’s with her Carl Dean,” she posted on X, referencing Parton’s late husband who died in March 2025 at the age of 82. “No one talk to me today.”
While Musgraves and Parton never formally collaborated, the 38-year-old has been open about her admiration for the “Jolene” artist in the past. The “Dry Spell” singer was also part of the all-female tribute to Parton at the 2019 Grammy Awards, singing “Here You Come Again” alongside Katy Perry.

At the time, she called Parton the “ultimate songwriter” and praised her for her multifaceted persona.
“Beauty, sex appeal, brains, wit, humor, beautiful songwriting, meaningful songwriting, no apologies for who she is, LGBTQ advocate long before it was even a thing or trendy or whatever,” Musgraves told Billboard in 2019. “She’s fearless and I admire her spirit a lot and she’s very kind. She’s very present when you’re talking to her and I just really love her so much.”

And Musgraves isn’t the only music star to honor Parton in concert. During the opening night of his 30-date Madison Square Garden residency on Wednesday, Harry Styles played “I Will Always Love You” as a tribute to her.
“Sing it out, people,” he told fans.
